Compliance software for South African food and beverage manufacturers.
Food manufacturing carries a compliance burden that no other sector shares: the product itself is the hazard. Alongside ordinary occupational health and safety duties, food premises face hygiene requirements, and customers — particularly retailers — increasingly demand certification against FSSC 22000 or ISO 22000 as a condition of supply. That means the same operation is audited by the state, by its certification body, and by its largest customers.
Which regime applies
- Primary instrument
- Food hygiene regulations, with ISO 22000 / FSSC 22000 certification
- Regulator
- Department of Health and local authority environmental health, plus certification bodies
- Why it matters
- Unlike the other sectors here, much of the practical pressure comes from customer-mandated certification rather than from the state alone. Losing certification can cost a listing before it costs a fine.
What this sector has to prove
HACCP plans that are actually live
A HACCP plan in a binder describes what should happen. SHEQ24 holds the plan as a live structure — hazards, critical control points, limits and monitoring frequencies — so the plan and the monitoring record are the same object rather than two things that have to be reconciled at audit.
CCP monitoring and deviations
Critical control point readings are captured on the line, against the correct CCP, with the operator and time recorded. A reading outside its limit raises a deviation immediately and routes the corrective action, instead of surfacing when someone reviews the sheets.
Traceability and audit evidence
When a certification body or a retail customer audits, the question is rarely whether you have a system — it is whether you can produce the evidence for a specific date, line and batch on request. Records are indexed so that retrieval is a search rather than an archaeology exercise.
Hygiene, training and medical fitness
Food handler training, medical fitness and hygiene inductions all carry expiry. Competency lapses are tracked before they become a finding, and personal medical information stays under role-based access in line with POPIA.
The modules that carry most of the load here
The full platform is available regardless of sector. These are the modules that do the heaviest lifting in food & beverage.
Food & Beverage questions
Does SHEQ24 replace our HACCP documentation?
Will it support an FSSC 22000 or retailer audit?
Can line operators capture readings without a computer?
This page describes compliance obligations in general terms to explain what the platform does. It is not legal advice — confirm the current requirements applicable to your operation before relying on them.
